3 Tips For The First Day Of School

Posted by Kelsi Jennings on

The big moment is finally here.. the first day of school for your little one!

While this milestone is always filled to so much excitement there can also be other emotions lurking in the background like nerves, fear & uncertainty.

These are all completely normal feelings and after a few weeks of school you won't even remember feeling nervous at all.. it just becomes life as we know it.

Here are my 3 tips for the first day of school -

  1. Be Organized - Have everything you need for the first day ready & waiting the night before. In the rush of that first morning the last thing you want to be doing is packing lunches, ironing uniforms or trying to find matching socks. Have it all laid out so in the morning its super easy & wayyy less stressful for you.
  2. Support Your Childs Feelings - Talk to your child about the first day & what it might involve. Sometimes fear of the unknow is a big thing for kids and often knowing a rough idea of things that will happen can help calm their nerves. Reassure them that they are safe at school & that you will be there to collect them at the end of the day. Discuss how they are feeling about starting school & let them know its perfectly okay to feel however they are feeling.
  3. And Finally.. Relax - With the hustle and bustle of the first day its easy to get swept up and forget to relax & actually enjoy the moment. Try not to stress if everythings not perfect -  try to slow down a little, take the photos, make the memories and enjoy this big step!
